Imagine the world without media. It would be boring, dull and none the less, unimaginable. There are many forms of media, such as television, internet, radio, movies and news papers. In this essay I mention different forms of media that will be discussed briefly.

Television, my little secret to relaxation. Whenever I need to take a break from my work or studying, all I need to do is switch the television on and just zone out for a little while. Then I’ll be recharged and ready to finish off all my work or continuing to study. I usually only watch movies or my regular programmed programs which I enjoy, like Ugly Betty. Television can also be considered as a social tool. Almost everyone watches TV, which means everyone has something in common which they can talk about and share their opinions about, like what had happened on one of the popular series. Sometimes, my group of girlfriends and I get together to watch DVD’s with some popcorn and pizza, it’s almost the same as a night out with a little bit of gossip included. Every once in a while will I watch the news which informs me about the latest happenings around the world and the weather update for the upcoming week. So, as you can see, Television is my most used and enjoyed media.

One of the most useful and most used media around is the Internet. It can be used for almost anything imaginable. I personally only use it for information, socialization and communication. All students will agree with me, when I say we need internet. As a student, you can’t go without it. E-mails are, for instance, the main link of communication between lecturers and students. They send us e-mails to inform us about our upcoming tests, assignments and our study material. It’s one of the fastest ways to communicate. Now for the socializing part, Facebook.
