As part of my undergraduate education I was required to undergo a compulsory six months industrial training in a company that relates to my course of study. I was fortunate to get placement in an WISP (Wireless Internet Service Provider) where I implemented wide area networks using Fixed Wireless Radios and Very Small Aperture Terminal (V SAT) and I also had the opportunity of making in-depth research into basic wireless technologies and fundamentals , this exposure marked the beginning of my practical experience in telecommunication .I began to nurse the idea of building a career in telecoms because I really enjoyed the experience, It surpassed my expectation having possessed only theoretical knowledge prior to this time. While in the university telecoms related courses interested me the most because of my industrial training experience. In fact they became a favorite. The concept of connecting different remote locations and sharing information via wireless communication system spurred my interest .This has fueled my passion and curiosity. Presently I work with a telecommunication firm that provides both internet and point-to-point services using a wired technologies. Being in the Network Enterprise group, I serve as a network support engineer, providing prompt fault resolutions and also installing new DSL ( Digital Subscriber Line) an E1 links for customers using multi-vendor equipments like RAD and WATSON. My main responsibility is to ensure that the network is up and running at all time.My work experience has taught me to work in a team, improved my ability to analyze problems as they come and to understand the needs of both clients and employees in order for the company to achieve its organizational objectives. Career wise, I see myself climbing very fast from the position of applying technical knowledge as a network support engineer to managing telecommunication projects.
