Ray , Arizona , a mining town that was at its peak during the 1900s, but now Ray is a ghost town in Pinal County, It is mostly known for the large copper mine.
During the late 1800’s, Many families moved from the Mexican border to work in the mines , one of the families that migrated was Mr. Herculano Valenzuela and his wife Dolores Duarte , as time went by and the families settle, Mrs. Dolores Duarte , gave birth to a child which they put as name Manuel Duarte Valenzuela , then over time Mrs. Dolores gave birth again, but a tragedy happens , Mrs. Duarte dies while giving birth to beautiful baby girl . It was then that the Mr. Duarte found himself widowed, with a five year old child , a three year old and his newborn . Within three years Mr. Duarte is diagnosed with cancer in the lungs, because he had worked in the mines all his life. It was a great tragedy. Mr. Duarte was an orphan and he dint have any immediate family in town, , when he found himself in such difficult circumstances he decided to return to Mexico , his two daughters were adopted by a wealthy family. Mr. Duarte felt he was doing the best for their daughters because he knew that he had little time to live. That was when he placed his son in a juvenile reformatory in the city of Hermosillo Sonora.
This is how my story begins. Could manuel survive after being left fatherless? With no other family, just His memories, of an old town, that his father used to tell him about. He clearly remembered it was cananea. Where his father told him he had some cousins ​​.
When Manuel turns 13, the government decides to close the boarding school where he was .
