“Natures Present”
As I walk through the deep green grass and smell the fresh air, I realize that this is how life is supposed to be, no troubles, no stress, just myself and nature. While reading this, you would most likely expect me to be in a garden full of rare horticulture in an exotic greenhouse, but I am right at home in my backyard.
Inside, I hear the sound of the television blaring through the windows, siblings scurrying in and out, and noise drowning out all the rest of the surroundings. Outside is a whole different atmosphere. A plethora of flora in nature’s most simple form, the chirping of birds, the majestic hues of the fish swimming in a mere man made pond, the sights and sounds of a garden are calming to the heart. There is nothing special about my mom’s garden. Just the usual trees, flowers, and animals that are scurrying around as this is meaningful to me.
When school gets stressful or I just need a break from the roller coaster ride of life, paradise is just a few steps away. My bare feet touch the cold dirt while I kneel over to run my fingers run along the water lilies. They are the most beautiful lilies you have seen. My eyes are treated to a feast of colors and sights. It stimulates all my senses. My eyes do not know what to look at first! I can smell the fresh air, I hear the leaves rustling against each other and the sounds of the small creatures such as crickets, frogs, fly’s and other creatures. I feel the texture of the flowers, plants. I can also taste the freshness of the morning dew.
My mom’s garden is laden with many flowers: rose bushes, water lilies in the man made pond, and even the purple flowers that smell refreshing. The varieties of flowers are bubbling with life. It may be my garden, but I share it with the insects and the many animals that travel in and out without us even knowing.
I make my way towards the fishes that are squirming around...
