In the passage of Matthew, 23 verses 29-39, Jesus is being very stern toward the Scribes and Pharisees. The group said that their own ancestors did not take part in the slaughter of the prophets, and they wouldn’t have if they were in that time period. But Jesus says to them that they are responsible for the slaughter of sages and prophets and scribes that he sends them. Until they say “Blessed is the One who comes in the name of the Lord” He will not come to them, and they will not be saved. This is an important passage because, to me, it explains the fact that if people don’t fess up to their wrongs and make up for them, they are no better than their ancestors of the past. Also, at the end, Jesus says that if they don’t stop rejecting Jesus and his followers or killing them, then they will not be saved and Jesus will not come to them. I believe this is a message to ALL saying to let the word of God into our lives, and we shall be saved. In the final paragraph of Matthew, who was left of the Disciples of Christ, travel to Galilee as instructed by the angel, through Mary. They then behold Jesus (after he had resurrected from the dead) on a hill, and Jesus says to them that they should go out to all the nations and make Disciples of all, baptize them, and teach them to follow his word. This is a very hard task that Jesus is putting out to his disciples, because Jesus was just crucified for teaching his ways, and if his followers went forth and taught his ways, they were sure to be killed, or at least sentenced to jail. This is important because in the story of Matthew, Jesus says that it is most important to love God, and then to love your neighbors above yourself. So, in turn, the disciples should put spreading the word of God and doing his bidding above their own lives. After Jesus comes back from the dead and his followers find him in Galilee, he says for them to go and spread his word among the Nations. Jesus says this not only here, but also in Chapters 10...
