Persuasive Speech Outline
Introduction:
I.          Attention Step: What did all of you dream of when you were growing up?
 
II.        Thematic Statement: Being a parent is the toughest job in the world.
 
Body:
I.          Need Step: If you don’t think that being a parent is a job because you don’t get paid, you are probably not a parent!
           
II.        Main point #1: Responsibility
 
Supporting Material: You are responsible for another human being.
 
III.       Main point #2: No training
 
Supporting Material: No college degree truly prepares you for all the answers that we need here, and everyone thinks they know the answers, but the truth is there is no answer or help guide that can truly prepare you for the responsibility that comes with being a parent.
 
IV.       Main point #3: The daily grind
 
Supporting Material: Parenting has a million tedious aspects to it that are never-ending.
 
V.        Main point #4: Love
 
Supporting Material: Our love for our children is the only motivation you can cling to.
 
VI.       Satisfaction Step: Some kids are adopted and other people become parents, but your blood runs through their veins. Your child will always be a part of you!
 
Conclusion: You can’t get rid of the worry. The daily grind will haunt you. The responsibility will sit on your heart. The lack of training will always be visible because you can never be truly ready for what is coming next.
I.          Visualization Step: The love you have for your child is the chains that hold you down and the drive that keeps you going. 
II.        Restatement of Thematic Statement: Twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, you are responsible for another human being.
 
IV.       Action Step: Is having a child worth it all? The answer is: Absolutely!
