Two Sides of Nuclear Power Plants

Our society and our standard of living depend on a suitable supply of energy. Without energy, we would not be able to heat our homes or cook our food. Also, long distance travel and communication would become impossible, and factories could no longer produce the goods that we need. A century ago, people used a coals or woods as an energy source, but we also found new types of energy which is very powerful. Nuclear power provides great energy. However, it is a widely discussed issue among people worldwide. I myself also have two opposite attitudes about Nuclear power when it is seen in different lights: benefit or problem of Nuclear power and its possibility of danger.
Nuclear power has many benefits over its competitors, including oil, coal, wind and solar power, and it’s world’s largest source of energy. It already generates about 20% of world’s electricity. More than hundred nuclear energy plants in America provide more electricity than oil, natural gas or hydropower. Moreover, Nuclear energy plants produce electricity through the fission of uranium, not the burning of fuels. Consequently, nuclear power plants do not pollute the air. In addition to the economic benefits achieved through the use of nuclear energy, there are environmental benefits as well. There are, however, various drawbacks through nuclear power.
Despite the fact that nuclear energy offers great benefits as an alternative source of electric power, nuclear energy is still a controversial issue in many countries. The reasons are for these issues of safety, waste and nuclear weapons. The United States has had a serious accident concerning the production of nuclear energy. The accident occurred at the Three Mile Island Nuclear station in Pennsylvania. According to a data of Environmental health Sciences, several hundred people at the time of the accident reported vomiting, hair loss and skin rashes, and a number said their pets died....
