Majority rule and minority right really go hand in hand and when you think about it. This is the fundamental principal of our democratic government. The 14th amendment protects the rights of minority as well as the majority. This allows everyone to be equally protected by law. That is why I’m asking the question is it the majority's responsibility to protect the minority’s right.
Yes, we vote and the one with the most votes goes on and acts as the majority. It is the responsibility of the majority to protect the right of the minority because one day the majority will be in the place of the minority. Even though the majority's vote cannot over rule the minorities right because they are protected by law. They are still excepted to have consideration for the minority rights the government foreseen this that’s why they put this check and balance system in so they could protect the rights of both majority and minority.
I believe without this check and balance system we would not survive as a country, government, or American race this is a must for all the diversity in our country. Not just color, religion, race, but all aspects of life. This concept keeps us in the right. This keeps the majority from not abusing the power by stepping on the little guys. This is applied to everything from the party we vote into office to the bills and laws we pass in congress. The majority might win but they still can’t take away from the minorities civil rights or their rights to exercise these civil liberties.
With majority rule and minority rights we can see that both go hand in hand and that even though the minority might not win the vote they still have the same rights and privileges as the majorit
