Obama Seeks Votes Amid Fervor

Barak Obama extends his voice towards young African Americans. He recently gave a speech at Howard University to encourage young students to vote at the next presidential election, and to present his own campaign. He turns to the African American community and urges the importance of their votes. Only “African American men younger than 30 made up more than 2% of the Democratic primary votes.” Barak Obama also urges the importance of drug awareness. His campaign towards young African Americans is encouragement to increase the amount of young African American votes.

Barak Obamas’ campaign is a perfect example of competitive struggle to become a Representative of our nation (Representative Democracy). According to Wilson Representative Democracy is when individuals acquire power by means of a competitive struggle for the people’s vote. In this case Barak Obama is trying to win peoples votes by appealing to young Americans who could make the biggest difference between the two candidates in the Presidential Election.

In my opinion I think Barak Obamas’ campaign struggle to get more young people involved in government is going to benefit him greatly. His desire to get vote from young Americans has made him widely known in the mainstream media which will benefit his campaign. Hip-hop artist such as Common have “dropped his name in their lyrics.”
