Shawshank Redemption
It was a long time coming for convicted felon, Andy Dufresne, who escaped the (courtyard p.252) style, prison facility of Shawshank. In 1947, Andy an educated young man, a banker to be exact was (wrongfully convicted p.90) of murdering his wife and his wife’s lover all based on circumstantial evidence. Andy was sentence to two life sentences. When the presiding judge handed down the sentence, he told Andy that he would served a life sentence for each of the victims due to Andy’s lack of remorse. Andy a (situational offender p.131) was not considered for a (presentence report p.85) to shed some light on his crime-free lifestyle.
Andy was then on his way to Shawshank, along with other convicted felons. Andy shackled, exited the transporting bus and followed behind the others, where they proceeded to enter the facility and was greeted by Warden Norton, who used the (custodial model p.244) to brief the inmates of his expectations. Andy was officially a slave to the state. Andy and the new inmates were ordered by Captain Hadley, who commanded presence and used his (power of authority p.200) to shower and walk naked to their assigned cells, clutching their new clothing to cover their private parts.
From that point, Andy knew that he had to adjust to the (prisonization p.271) environment and had to adjust to the prison culture fast, so he decides to befriend fellow inmate “Red” Redding. Red a convicted murderer, was up for parole after serving ten years at Shawshank, Red had a (jailing p.276) attitude before the prison board, he new his parole would be denied, therefore, he just wanted to do his time. Andy knew that Red was the go to guy who had connections for smuggling contraband. Andy asked Red to get him a rock hammer, explaining that he was a rock hound in his old life and would like to be a rock hound again because it gives him the feeling of freedom.
