Most super heroes that you hear about everyday are Superman, and Ironman, and Spider-Man. All of these characters do crazy things to save people. Odysseus however does save people but goes through challenges that the normal super heroes do not. But one thing they all have in common is Hubris.Odysseus has other qualities that makes him an epic hero p, these are some like guile, bravery, determination, mental strength, and loyalty. These are not only things that make him an epic hero but they make him an incredible person.
One of the qualities that makes him an epic hero is loyalty. For example, in "The Lotus-Eaters" Odysseus sent some of his men on the island to see what it was all about. After he found out that if you eat the Lotus plant it will make you want to stay on the island forever and not come home, on lines 103-105 he told the rest of his crew on the ships "All hands aboard; come, clear the beach and do not taste the Lotus, or you loose hope of your home." This shows that he knows his men want to come home, and want to make sure that they can still go home.
Another quality that Odysseus has is mental strength. This is proven by in the episode "The Sirens" he knows that the sirens will lore him and his men into them with there beautiful songs and they will kill them. So he told his men that they are to tie him to a post as tight as possible so he cannot get out. He also carved beeswax to put in his men's ears so they can not hear the music. He told the men that every time he tries to struggle and get out they are to tie him tighter. His plan worked. After leaving the Sirens water area they moved on, onto the rest of their journey.
A third quality that makes Odysseus an epic hero is bravery.Odysseus shows the characteristic of bravery in the episode, "The Lotus-Eaters". In "The Lotus-Eaters" after Odysseus' men already have eaten some of the Lotus he came up with a plan. He was going to kidnap his men back so that they can come home...
