The Comparison of La Strada and Of Mice and Men

Fellini’s masterpiece La Strada sends out a powerful and beautiful message of the love of life and the saving of lives through a little woman Gelsomina. Who happens to be the spirit of this film and ends up saving Zampano’s life even though it has a cost. La Strada translated means “the road” I believe that this title means the road of life that you travel upon. You end up realizing towards the end that they need each other and rely on one another for support and help, and once gone there is no use to them living. In Steinbeck’s book Of Mice and Men there is Lennie and George who accompany each other in search of their American Dream “It jus’ seems kinda funny a cuckoo like him and a smart little guy like you travelin’ together,”(Steinbeck 39). They are an unlikely pair to be seen together, George who is a smaller male who always has a plan of some sort, and Lennie who is a man of astounding size often compared to a bear, and has the mind of a child. But they stick together through thick and thin there family and must look out for one another.
In Of Mice and Men, Lennie is like a child and must be constantly watched and when something goes wrong George is there to fix it. That is George’s duty in life to take care of Lennie and make sure everything is okay, but it’s not that easy since Lennie is being constantly judged and is considered an outcaste to basic society. Lennie is fascinated by soft, fuzzy, smooth, velvety things which tend to lead him into trouble. Such as when Lennie saw a woman in the marketplace area with a velvety dress on he senses that he must go and stroke it, and he does so startling the woman and making her scream; making Lennie panic and he doesn’t let go he just keeps on hanging on to her dress causing a huge scene. Then George comes in to save the save the day and him and Lennie run off. George does this multiple times throughout the story saving and protecting Lennie of danger or harm....
