Captain America: The First Avenger and Iron Man 3 both of which were both well received superhero movies based on the Marvel comic books. Iron Man 3 broke box office records for 2013 reaching number five all time worldwide grosses. (Placeholder1) Whereas Captain America: The First Avenger placed two-hundred and six on the worldwide grosses list. (Placeholder2) Historically speaking Marvel tried in the year 1944 with Captain America to make the big leap of comics to the big screen, but has really only had success within the past decade. We will definitely be seeing more of these comics brought to life on the big screen. So, if you are like me, you might be asking yourself; which is the better superhero? Does a higher gross in profits equate to a higher quality movie? Do special effects have everything to do with the success the comic book heroes are now experiencing? We will look at several different criteria to hopefully get a clearer idea.
Iron Man 3 debuted in 2013; take place in current day, with a flashback to twelve years prior, a 1999 New Year’s Eve Party. This is where the background is laid, Tony Stark a brilliant portrayal by Robert Downey, Jr. the eccentric, playboy, billionaire, who is CEO of Stark Industries; which develops and manufactures advanced weapon and defense technologies. When Tony Stark rejects and blows off Aldrich Killian whom is wickedly portrayed by actor Guy Pearce. Killian develops his ideas, along with his hatred of all things Tony Stark and becomes a super villain. Killian throws Stark off because he uses a homeless, drunken, drug addict to be the face of Mandarin played by Ben Kingsley as a face for the villain. Beyond the wonderful portrayal by the acting cast and the special effects which we will look at shortly; the plot leaves a lot to be desired. It is the typical superhero scenario; Tony saves the world from a villain, gets the girl the charismatic, charming Pepper Potts portrayed by Gwyneth...
