One of Mohawk High Schools Best Citizens

Mohawk High School is home to many fine citizens. Many are overlooked or not recognized. That is one of the reasons I believe this award is great. This is an excellent way to recognize the best citizens and commend them. It is all too often that people only realize the bad things that are going on around them; the good needs to be addressed more than the bad.

I am involved in numerous activities inside of school and out. Beginning in my freshman year, I was the lone soccer statistician for the team, and have been through my senior year. I devoted much of my spare time on those game nights to compiling the stats for each player and sending the information to several of the local newspapers. In addition to that several times a week, I also had to accomplish the task of calculating the figures for each player at the completion of the season.

Being a quiz bowl member since my elementary school days, I've gained a lot of knowledge because of that, and I feel I have been an important part of our quiz bowl team's success through the years.

For three years I was a member of Student Council where we made decisions for the student body concerning school functions such as activities during Teacher Appreciation week. We also arranged the homecoming dance, activities before the homecoming football game, and conducted fundraisers for needy families. Being a member of SADD, students against destructive decisions, I have helped influence my peers not to make destructive decisions regarding their future. In SADD, we have carried out activities such as Red Ribbon Week, Prom Promise, arranged the Dope for Dopes assembly, and many other decision assisting efforts for Mohawk students.

Just this year, I also became a member of Leo Club, an organization fathered by the Lion's Club for the benefit of students and to promote service activities among students. We plan and execute the annual snowball dance, making sure that...
