An important part in the success of any company is the dynamic of how communication within the company affects its culture and its ability to stay true to the values of the company. Good organizational communication allows a company to succeed by ensuring those values stay intact and allows the company to resolve conflict within the company. In the case of a global company, like Starbucks Coffee Company, proper communication and conflict resolution becomes ever more important to help ensure these company values are met. The purpose of this paper is to examine Starbucks Coffee Company’s stated values to see if they align with what the company enacts. In additional, this paper will explore how organizational communication is determined by its culture and also to describe the role communication plays in perception of an organization and its culture. The final topic that will be evaluated is the role of conflict in group communication.

Company Values
Starbucks Coffee Company has become a household name. The company actively promotes itself as a third place between work and home. Starbucks has become such an important part of global culture by sticking to a set of company values with the goal of having a positive impact on communities. To achieve this, the companies focus is on community development, ethical sourcing of its product, and environmental responsibility (“Being a Responsible Company,” n.d.). Starbucks has stuck true to these values. The company promotes ethical sourcing by only buying coffee beans from countries that practice fair trade. They only use cups from recycled materials. Additionally, they have a program to fund clean water initiatives in underdeveloped countries (Jones, 2012).
