Community service is more of a privilege than obligation! We all do things in life without the money factor involved! If we don’t do for others, we at least do it for our families and loved ones! With volunteering the focus shifts from gaining value to building value in the community, from personal to commons and from gaining proprietary value to volunteering! And nothing is more rewarding than volunteering for orphanages as these are the future generation in the society just like our own children who desperately need attention from the more fortunate ones! If community service means giving back to the community, giving to orphans is certainly part of it. So the question arises why I want to volunteer for orphanages and the answer is Volunteering for an orphanage is a valuable service to the community!

First of all, it is a responsibility of the larger community to take care of the basic needs of the orphans as part of the larger humanitarian effort! The term orphanage is closely related to shelter for the homeless, social cast outs, disabled etc. These are people who are unable to provide for themselves. In orphanages, children particularly those abandoned at birth or in childhood are vulnerable to sickness, disease and hunger as they have not yet reached the right age or maturity to make living for themselves. Orphans have basic needs such as Food, Shelter, Education and healthcare. We provide for our children so they can go to school but there is no one to provide for these orphans who were either deserted or lost their providers at an early age. The situations get worse as these orphans mature and grow old. Due to lack of education, they are unable to get good jobs in the society! As a result, most of the orphans often grow up and become thugs or nuisance in the society bringing negativity as they struggle to survive on the streets. This affects the economy and social standing of any community or country by large! The solution to this issue is members...
