This article has made me think of my past; the past which I don’t want to think about. I feel that it is an emotional article because the way author narrates the story of a boy that belongs from a middle class family, who resembles most of us in this Country

We are destined to make many important decisions in our life every day. Migrating to this Country what I called “A Land of freedom and Opportunities” is one of the decision most of us or our parents has made and that is why we are here today. We hear stories of people portraying their experience and the hardships they had to face when they first came to the United States of America. People always complain about their experience; they would say that they had a rough time because they did not know anything about the American culture and traditions, and Americans were being racist to them. The article “A Memoir of a Bilingual Childhood” by Richard Rodriguez tells the story of a boy who could not keep up with his native language and lost his identity after being admitted to the school in the United States. In this article the author tries to get the reader’s attention by persuading and emphasizing some of the bilinguistic theories.
