Our Way to Salvation

Our Way to Salvation

1. LOVE

The most wonderful expression of God in the Bible is wonderfully, correctly expressed in three beautiful words. We can find this incredible and wonderful expression in 1 John 4:8, which reads, “God is love”. It does not say that God have love for us or God loves us but He, as a person is love and always loves us. The Scripture reads like this in the previous verses:
“Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.” (1 John 4:7,8)

The very disciple of Christ, often considered as the beloved disciple, John reminds Christians to love one another because love of God. God is love because He loves depending not on what we are as humans do, but because of what He is, He is love. For this reason we are to love one another because love is not a human achievement, it has a divine origin and it is of God. According to Jesus, loving only those who love you is nothing better than being not His disciple; but Christians must be His disciple. Even having the gifts of the Holy Spirit and not having love are good for nothing; for this reason, do not think that a person is of God or do not see him as a holy man just because he or she has the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Remember what Christ told us, we are not to judge by their gifts but by their fruits. 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 describes what love is:
“Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; Does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; Does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; Bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.”

Therefore, this is how we should be, because as Christians, we must have love. Also remember, God is love, which suggests that God is patient and kind, and He is neither boastful, nor rude and does not at all rejoice in wrong things.
