Personal Communication Report
Effective communication can help solve problems in professional life and improve relationships in personal life. Communication is important in your career and throughout work life. This paper will discuss the characteristics of verbal and non verbal communication and language, strengths and weaknesses. Lastly this paper will include three goals of improving communication in personal or professional life, and important skills in the information age.
By defining the characteristics of language this can be used as symbols, signs, or behavior. Characteristics of language could also be used as passing information from one source to another. Characteristics of verbal and non verbal communication is define as a message which is an idea or thought of feeling. One person (the source) has to communicate to another person or group (the receivers). Another characteristic of verbal and non verbal communication is called feedback were a group response to one person’s message.
One time I was given an assignment in class were I had to do a 1 min elevator speech and we were given feedback from peers on our strengths and weaknesses. My strengths for verbal communication were to be able to project my voice to audience. 2nd strength was having good eye contact with all peers in the room. Last strength was that I did the research on the profession I choose and had all detailed information to present to the class. My weaknesses for verbal communication were being very nervous to present in front of my peers. 2nd weakness was to take breaths in between presentation and having head and leg movements while presenting. Last weakness is going over the speech more than once and standing up to present and forget what I was going to say
