Personal Mission Statement

Mahatma Gandhi’s mission in life was to bring freedom to his nation using nonviolence and moral values. His mission statement not only changed his life and the lives of all Indians, it propelled him into the history books. Unlike Gandhi, the only thing that is worth praising for me is my analytical mind for accounting. I first became interested in accounting two years ago when my father was preparing for his CPA exam. He asked me to assist him in his studies and gradually, my interest in accounting developed. Even since then, my mission in life is to be a d successful businessperson. I want to be known by my family as a woman who loved and cared; by my friends as someone who was always there; by my employers as a fair, honest, responsible, and hardworking individual. Ten years from now, I want to see a certificate on my wall saying, “Chetna Gupta is hereby certified as a Member of the Florida Society of Certified Public Accountants.”
In my junior year, I took Accounting 1 where I learned the basic concept of accounts and finance. I joined Business Professionals of America, getting one-step closer to my mission. I developed analytical skills such as how to save money, increase a company’s profit, and file tax returns. I use those skills in daily use. For instance, I advised my father to depreciate his computer, which is legal, because he works independently at home on his computer. At a future job, I will need analytical skills to do payroll, file taxes for each employer, and find loopholes in order to give some tax money back to the employers. Recently, I have been using my tutorial skills in accounting. If my friends were having trouble with a question, they would rather come to me than go to the teacher. In the near future, I can assist my co-workers, if they are in need of some financial advice. For instance, in order to decrease liability, one can simply increase sales and pay off one’s debts.
