Personal Narrative

A Successful Run I never thought I was a good runner, until the day in gym class when I won the mile race. The course was marked with colorful flags, and the sight of the flags seemed to fire me up. When Mrs. Hold, our gym teacher, blew her whistle, I charged ahead. To my surprise, I was one of the leaders right away. About halfway around the course, I noticed a few kids grabbing their sides. Some kids even started walking. I felt tired too, but I kept running. Mrs. Holt congratulated me when I was the first runner across the finish line. I thanked her and grinned. Now I think about running all the time. Maybe someday I will even get the chance to run in the Olympics.
