Peter Pan
Recently I went to see a theatre production at the lyceum theatre Edinburgh. The production was Peter Pan, performed by 17 actors each day it was viewed. Mr JM Barrie was the producer of the lyceum performance. The 17 actors performed the production peter pan in which the three children wake up to peter pan and tinkerbell in their home and they go away to neverland leaving there family worrying about them. The children then return towards the end of the production and the darling family are finally brought back together again.
The minute the curtain went up as everyone else I got quite excited to see what was going to be performed in front of me. The first scene was in the darling house where nana (the children’s pet and nurse) was preparing the children for bed. There mum and dad come in to see the children before they go out, this is when Mrs Darling tells Mr Darling she has been seeing a boy outside the house. Peter and Tinkerbell then enter the house looking for his shadow that Mrs Darling has stored away. Whilst looking for it he woke up Wendy, Wendy then sowed his shadow back on for him. Peter told Wendy about the lost boys and neverland. Peter then says about the bed time stories and asks for Wendy to go with him back to neverland. Wendy agrees only if John and Michael can come to. Peter says yes and they all practise flying together. This Scene was really good it was a good opening to the production. It told you the whole begging of the play and was acted out very well. Kim Gerard who played Wendy was extremely good in the first scene. She was the one that stood out this most in this scene for me. Peter pan played by Scott Fletcher was good also his entrance flying in was perfect. The stage setting was brilliant; it was a massive bed with patchwork covers, a big white window which opened for peter to fly threw. There was a bubble machine in the background for when nana was giving one of the boys a bath with a dog hut for nana to sleep in....
