heroin and concaine our society has had a problem with drug abuse and drug addiction.
During the 1960s, and 1970s drugs like marijuana, amphetimines, and psychedelics came I
nto play and a new generation embraced them. The biggest challenge today is the
dramatic change in organized crime. American criminals once controlled drug trafficking
in the Us. But today sophisticated and powerful criminal groups headquartered in foreign
countries control the drug trade in the United states.
The main Illicit drugs are heroin, cocaine, marijuana, meth, and ecstasy. But one
thing that is rarely mentioned and should be is alcohol and tobacco. These two right here
affect more people worldwide than anything else but as we know these drugs are legal to
purchase at a certain age, unlike other illegal drugs that come from the black market, or
off the street in other words. Marijuana and alcohol have been very common throughout
the history of civilization. Steroids is a common drug that gets a lot of negative attention
today as well especially with professional and amateur athletes. I turn on the TV to watch
ESPN every day and it never fails that somebody is getting caught for breaking the
substance abuse policy and usually its performance enhancers such as anabolic steroids.
