Philosophy of Life

What is your life’s philosophy? Does it shadow you the way your conscience does? Does it manifest when you have to make hard and sound decisions? Reflecting on these questions has led me to the realization that I have many different beliefs and philosophies on life. I believe that you should do unto others the way you would want them to do unto you; the choices you make today shape your world tomorrow, and that , everyone has a purpose on this planet. After responding to the questions in the textbook, I wasn’t surprised by any of my answers. I also didn’t find it difficult to answer any of the questions. In fact, these questions helped me to see why I look at life the way I do and all the variables that have impacted my life and mold my way of thinking.
My philosophy on treating others the way you would want to be treated is very easy to explain. The values that were instilled in me at a young age by my parents helped me determine the right things to do. They always told me to live by the “golden rule.” By showing that you are pleasant and respectful you do not give people reason to believe that you are anything different. They also told me that your life will be rewarded by the good deeds that you do for others. When you treat others with the kind of respect that you would like to be treated with, you build that trust and bond between you and that individual. People, will also like being around you. For example, when I was in high school, I befriended a girl, Chyan, that was always bullied. She was very smart and always had the best grades, especially in Math. Everyone made fun of her and threw negative insults at her every time they saw her. Instead of following everyone else, I spoke with her all the time and gave her words of encouragement. Now Math was not my best subject. I always struggled and didn’t get the best grades. When the Regents were coming up, I was scared that I wouldn’t past. Chyan offered to help me study and...
