Cummings’ poem, "I carry your heart with me," is about deep, profound love, the kind that can keep the stars apart and that can transcend the soul or the mind. The overall mood is a heart touching poem and it’s an intense romantic poem. I like the poem because this type of love described is hard to find. I have chosen to include this in my poetry collection because when I heard this poem, I was touched by it and I wanted to share it. Reading Notes-“I carry your heart with me” Initial Response -the feeling I get from this poem is passionate and I was touched by it. I don’t really understand the third stanza when it says ‘here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud and the sky of the sky of a tree called life; which grows
higher than soul can hope or mind can hide.’ Basic Meaning -the main idea of the poem is about a love that is hard to find. Organization -The poem could almost be called a sonnet.
