Canadians have slowly been splitting apart. The separation of the poor and rich is heavily increasing, causing many economic problems in Canada. The definition of polarization of classes is simply, “The ongoing separation of Canadians relating to wealth”, “The gap between the poor and rich” and “As rich become richer, poor become poorer”.
The gap is always growing because the rich have many more opportuinities to make get richer while the poor have considerably less. For example, in the stock market, the more money is invested in a particular stock, the more opportuinity there is to gain more money back. However, if less is invested, there is a lesser return. This means, if a rich person invests more money than a poor person, even if both profit, the profit difference will be substansial. It is because of things like this that even further separate the classes.
Canada used to be a middle class country will a slight socialistic approach. Universal healthcare, financial help and many other things allowed equal opportunity for everyone. However, with the rise of business relations with the U.S. , Canada is starting to become more and more capitalistic. This new capitalistic approach only further separates the classes causing even more problems.
Canada is implementing taxes and loans to help out certain individuals who are struggling and need financial help. There are some very good ideas that the government is using to decrease the gap. The biggest thing would be taxes which takes of a large sum of an income. This forces people who make a high, steady income to give up a large chunk of their income for government assistance like welfare. Even though there are many people upset about high taxes, people are still left an income that is very reasonable while the rest goes to helping people in need who actually cannot support themselves financially.
