Political Ideology

Classical liberalism is set back to the nineteenth century. This theory dealt with minimal government, and the protection of property rights. Modern liberalism, also known as contemporary liberalism is a lifestyle in which the government has programs to provide for the economic well being of the nation. Also, it has a tolerance to various lifestyles. Thomas Jefferson and Andrew Jackson were both classical liberalists. Both men believed that a government, who governs less, governs best. Moving to contemporary liberalism, President Franklin Roosevelt started the New Deal program, and brought upon New Deal liberals who were concerned about the unemployed, farmers, and the labor union movement. Johnson then created the Great Society which brought the nation to the ideas of Medicare, and Medicade. Along with those men, Harry Truman, and John Kennedy were also both parts of the contemporary liberal movement. At that, I feel that populism, and progressivism resembles my personal values the best. Government should provide a steady set of rules, and help (public services) to the communities, because in populism and progressivism the government helps out so very much by regulating problems with industrialization, and regulation of corporations, which is something that our country needs. However, Government should not be able to say things such as, how long a person is allowed to work in a day, or how much a person is allowed to make doing specific jobs. This is because if one person gets paid more money by doing the same job as some who makes five dollars less, just because they do not fit the criteria (that the government sets) for the higher paid employee seems absolutely obscured. Also, that brings up topics such as judgment, weather its by race, sex, or disability, there is always that card that gets played.
