Rock, rap, pop, country, and blues are all forms of music. Music has been a part of each and everyone of our lives. How much do you heard a song and it brings you back to a place in your past. You were listening to music that goes into one of the two most popular categories, rock or pop. Rock and pop can be considered helpful in society, but the way that these types of music are played are different . A thing that they have in common is that once the artists are famous the may both have a tendency to to start to get into drugs or alcohol. Then they start spending thousands of dollars. Eventually many of both pop and rock stars end up in rehab, or sometimes even dead. Even though rock and pop have so similarities there are many distinct differences.
One of the most extreme differences is the way both types of music came about. Rock and roll started back in the early 60s. It was a time when the Vietnam war had just began. The Beetles, Jimy Hendrix, and The Doors all were sending out peaceful messages through their music. They were singing about stopping the war, drugs, and love instead of war. There lyrics were from the heart, and thats why people started to love them. The rock and roll popularity began when people we depressed and need something new. Pop, short for popular, music was popular from the beginning. It also had begun in the 60’s.
Another major difference between rock and pop groups are the way they get started. Pop groups are usually formed by record companies with what kind of image they want the artist to have, such as One Direction. This gives the record company the freedom to market their group any way they want. A new trend in the teenage world is the boy bands. Boy bands are groups of four or five guys that are marketed by the record labels to the ten to sixteen year olds of the world.
