Poverty is one of the most problematic causes in the world. Almost 80% of humanity lives on less than $10 a day. People who are poor are prone to suffer from diseases such as malaria, tuberculosis, and especially AIDS than the more fortunate. More than two thirds of the world’s population are poor. From all these facts about poverty is anyone aware of what poverty is?
What is poverty? Poverty is the state or condition of having little or no money or any means of support. Poverty is also defined as being moneyless or powerless. People who suffer from poverty struggle to posses the basic necessities such as food and water, clothing, shelter, and education. Poverty also makes it impossible for people to start a better life for their families.
There are many main causes of poverty including crime, lack of education, and lack of resources. For poverty crimes such as human trafficking, murder, and robbery get in the way of people to doing their necessary needs of survival and most importantly to live freely as a human being. From that education seems to be non-existent due to the fact that many children who live in impoverished areas are either being forced into prostitution or in hard labor. While most people live in the city the other minority settle in rural or war torn areas struggle to find substantial amount of resources for food, water, and shelter.
As poverty is on the rise the government from wealthier nations such as the US develop programs to help prevent the spread of poverty. Programs mainly from United Nations rely on donations to supply the poor, but it’s not enough to save everyone. There are other solutions in helping the poor to get all the basic necessities such as volunteering for your community, giving any donations that you would give, (a little could go a long way).
