Being president of the United States of America is a tremendous responsibility, and it is important that in the midst of this heated presidential race we examine both of these presidential candidates. This is an election that affects each and every one of us as Americans. On one side we have the incumbent President of the United States of America Barack Obama, and on the other side we have his opponent the former Governor of Massachusetts Mitt Romney. In 1991 Obama moved to Chicago, where he eventually taught constitutional law for twelve years at the University of Chicago Law School and served eight years in the Illinois senate, before being elected President of the United States. As for Mitt Romney, from 1978 to 1984 he was vice president of Bain & Co. he founded Bain Capital in 1984, and from 2003 to 2007 he was Governor of Massachusetts. Both of them are candidates for the presidency, but ultimately it is President Obama who has what it takes to get this country back on track. Americans should vote for Obama because he is able to listen to everyone then make decisions based on his own opinion, and he’s open to new ideas and new methods of communication.
To begin with, as president one has to make many important decisions that will affect each and every American in one way or another. In order to make these decisions, one has to be able to identify problematic situations, generate a number of different solutions, and select the ones that have the highest expectations of working, even if that choice may not be the most popular with the public. Scott Wilson is White House correspondent for the Washington Post, for his coverage of the Obama administration he received the 2011 Gerald R. Ford Prize for Distinguished Reporting on the Presidency.
