As the brink of the 2008 presidential election is coming, Republican John McCain and Democratic Barack Obama continue to trade barbed insults along with prescriptions for the ailing economy. Although the American economy is in a crisis, both rivals continue to release advertisements asserting that each candidate is the right leader to “keep Americans’ savings safe in the future.” Obama’s ad made it apparent that anybody could see how the American economy is struggling greatly whereas McCain’s ad claims he will keep all jobs, and savings safe.
This event is important to the United States because by targeting economic issues and emphasizing what each candidate can do for the country helps the American people choose their president which is a very important part for democracy. By releasing ads, the American people have the right to choose which ever presidential candidate they wish to vote for.
