Problem Solution: Global Communications
Global Communications (GC) need to redevelop its two prong strategic plan. To date there have been inconsistencies in company values and decisions to reach the targeted goals. This paper addresses the problems that GC currently faces and provides alternate solutions to reach their final goals of expansion into new markets through providing new services, reducing costs and becoming an industry leader. Through researching other companies and applying their best practices to GC’s current situation a new plan has been created. Following the recommendations of this paper will alleviate GC from the current position that the organization is in and put them back on track.
Situation Analysis
Issue and Opportunity Identification
Katrina Heinz and Nancy Everhardt were recently hired by GC to help turn around the organization as CEO and VP of small business and marketing sales respectively. They are both adapting to the culture and practices at GC, especially Katrina as she was recruited from Europe and was not as familiar with North American culture. They are both senior leadership team (SLT) members and placed in roles of leadership and influence. One of the company’s values is “our edge is people”. The senior leadership team acknowledges that without the support of their employees the new strategic plans that they want to implement will not come to fruition. GC needs committed, loyal employees and yet Nancy and Katrina have put together a plan that involves outsourcing the call centers where thousands of jobs will be lost overseas to Ireland and India. The actions of laying off thousands of employees and outsourcing these jobs is very contradictory and clearly undermines the integrity of the company. The SLT and Board have made a serious error in ethics and organizational commitment.
