Micromanagement and Kudler Fine Foods

The object of this paper is to create a problem statement concerning Kudler Fine Foods. There are many problems and issues that exist at Kudlers Fine Foods that have caused a domino effect throughout the business. This paper will highlight one of the problems that Kathy is experiencing. The paper will also include an explanation of how the problem is affecting the business and also provide a possible solution. Kathy needs to realize and focus on fixing the problems within her business so that her business can successfully grow.
The Problem
One of the problems that exist at Kudler Fine Foods is Kathy’s involvement or style of management known as micro-management. The reason some people might look at Kathy as being a micro-manger is for the fact that she controls every aspect of the business and makes all the decisions for the business (Strategic Planning, 2003). Even though Kathy has hired a manager and an assistant manager for each of the three stores, Kathy wants to have control of all the activities and decisions. This style of management has hindered her business and has had an effect on the managers and employees as well as her.
The effects
Kathy is actively involved in the operations of her businesses. She makes all the decisions, the only person who can order supplies, hires, fires, trains, ect. She has taken on the mangers role when she needs to focus on the owner’s role in the business. Kathy is so involved with the daily business operations she is unable to take any time off for vacation or even when she is sick, because none of the managers have been trained to do the jobs Kathy does.

Since Kathy is not able to delegate responsibilities, her management style does have a negative effect on the managers and employees. Kathy’s management style deprives her employees of opportunity to growth (McConnell, 2006) In order for...
