Healthful Eating
It seems that people still don’t understand that eating a healthy diet will prolong their existence on this earth. Studies done by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA); tells us, that morbidity and mortality are related to people having poor diets (_Dietary Guideline for Americans, 2005, para 1)_. Being uninformed, most people don’t think eating healthy or exercising is helpful; but there are so many people with many health issues.
With the growing number of people not seeing the big picture about eating a healthy diet, we are seeing a vast number of people with various health problems. One of the major issues surrounding our country is heart issues. Studies have shown that a well balanced diet will improve this condition (_Dietary Guideline for Americans, 2005, executive summary section)_. By, educating American, we can improve this condition and many others. Type 2 diabetes, hypertension, osteoporosis, and certain cancers are other diseases contributed to not eating healthy. Today, many fast food chains have opened around the country causing most American’s to take the easy way out. They do not offer things that are really good for us to eat, but we still contribute to these companies. Many people do not know what the required nutrition is for themselves. This leads us to make bad choices about the foods we eat. Good nutrition helps in many ways, one being “normal growth and development of children, health promotion for people of all ages, and reduction of risk for a number of chronic diseases that are major public health problems” (_Dietary Guideline of Americans, 2005, Chapter 2)._
Healthy cooking is so vital to our survival. When we start to prepare what we are about to eat, we need to check all the ingredients to make sure we are getting all the nutrients needed. Added sugars add calories but very little nutrients. Our body needs sugar for...
