Prostitution Should Be Legalized in Bangladesh

Prostitution is the world’s oldest profession. In our everyday life we hear conversations about this. It si an important economic and social issue that should be talked more openly. As we have a very conservative community in Bangladesh. Prostitution thrives on poverty and lack of employment in Bangladesh. As professor Helauddin Khan Arefeen says, ‘Professional licenses will bring them some rights,’ and Khondker Rebaka Sunyat says, ‘Needed: Legal Recognition and regulations.’ (Moral.Q.S. 2004) Legalizing prostitution provides Bangladesh with a secure life and future for the sex-workers, prevent sexually transmitting diseases, increase social security, give the country more law and order and prosper economically. Prostitution is carried out in different places of Bangldesh. The amount floating prostitution more than any other type. This is a very dangerous type work which the women do. It is very risky as they do not know where they might be taken and what nightmare they might have to go through. They can be severly injured or otherwise be unable to continue living a normal life.

Legalisation of prostitution would mean secure life and future for the sex. The total number of prostitutes in the country in between 100,000 and 150,000 (Ullah and Rahman, 2000). These women will have income with this profession for a limited time. Afterwards they cannot continue this as their mental and physical heath will not support them. Legalisation would allow them regular health check-ups, it protects worker rights. The children of the sex-workers can have a future if they are under law in constitution. The children do not have any identity of their parents. They are of the situation where they have been brought up without proper family and environment. They grow up to be depressed and have no goal in life. If legalized then the workers and children will have a possible future.
