Productive and Counterproductive Behaviors
Employees possess the choice to remain negative or positive within an organization to contribute or hinder efficiency as well as success. Organizations with employees maintaining productive behavior generally include acts of leadership and motivation to stimulate positive behavior. Defining counterproductive and productive behaviors is necessary to gain full understanding as well as providing how each affects employee performance, and organization performance.
Productive Behavior
Organizations desire employees who exude productive behavior. Productivity from employees generates profit for the organization. Employees who focus on the organization’s mission typically express productive behavior. Valuing the organization’s vision is an effect of an employee working toward set goals for efficient accomplishments. Employees who possess high standards also possess productive behaviors. Self-control is effective if an employee values important aspects of the organization as well as his or her work. Effective as well as efficient behaviors are the two forms of productive behaviors. Efficient employees provide productivity because he or she is capable of completing mass amounts of work in less time than others. Productive employees focus on main task completion, leading to profit for the organization.
Normality, control, attitudes, intentions, and beliefs provide the basis for productive behaviors. Developing productivity individually is complete through possession of superior work skills to create quality in services. Hiring and keeping efficient employees lessens pressure on busy managers. Managers possess the ability to remain productive because the manager will not need to monitor employees constantly.
