Freud believed that psychological differences between woman and man existed because of anatomical differences instead of different socialization experiences (Feist, 2009). I believe that is truth that by far one of the most controversial theories suggested by Freud was psychosexual development, Freud contribution to psychology was his work exploring the unconscious, Freud divided the mental life into the conscious and the unconscious (Feist, 2009). The unconscious contains all those drives, urges, and instincts that are beyond our awareness but that nevertheless motivated most of our actions, words, and feelings (Feist, 2009 p.25). in other words we might do things or say things to a specific person without realizing that we can hurt someone feelings and not only that we can also hurt people around us, behind our words and actions there might be harming words or actions to others without realizing it.

Freud Personality theory was towards men, he did not understand woman this was by his own admission. His lack of understanding woman and as well considering his beliefs concerning woman it is not hard to see why people would easily criticize his personality theory. Its believed that Freud lack of understanding woman could have been because when Freud was raised he was in the era where woman were to stay home and take care of the house, cooking, cleaning and children. Woman were not seen the same as men they were seen less than men, basically he had not enough experience seeing woman being judge or treated differently. There are some of Freud theories that have no actual research what so ever and researchers say that this is due to Freud forming his own conclusions without any proofs of them. Most of his own conclusions that had to do with personality theories were based on his own personal experiences and readings. Although there are researchers that doubt some of Freud methods he is very well known in today psychology for his good theories.
