Sugars in the body also known as Glucose which is found in the blood is known to give individuals the energy needed to perform daily activities including walking, exercising, running as well as eating. Glucose is transfer into the body by the foods individuals digest. When the body is not able to regulate the amount of sugar levels in the blood the body then looses energy. Diabetes is a disorder of the metabolism which affects the way the body uses food for energy.
During the digestion process the body of an individual, the pancreas has a major role in how food is digested. In order for food glucose to get in to the blood cells, insulin must be present. Insulin is produced by the pancreas, which is a large gland that is located behind the stomach. The pancreas has a main job which is to automatically produce the right amount of insulin needed to move the glucose obtained from the food into the cells of the body. After digestion of food glucose is known to pass into the blood stream. Blood cells use and stores glucose for energy, making Glucose the main fuel for the body. Individuals who suffer from diabetes produce little to no insulin at all, their cells are known to not properly respond to the appropriate amount of insulin needed to process food. For individuals which diabetes Glucose often builds up in the blood and it can even overflow into the urine making the body lose its main source of fuel and there for little to no energy is left. There are three main types of diabetes that are found individuals. The three types of diabetes are Type 1, Type 2 and Gestational Diabetes.
Type 1 diabetes is often referred to as an autoimmune disease. The diabetes seems to attack the immune system and destroys the insulin the pancreas produces during digestion of food. The autoimmune disease is a result of the body trying to fight the infection. Individuals with type 1 diabetes have to take daily dose of insulin to survive.
