From the Colgate advert, it is noted that the advertisers are seeking to bring into attention the advantages associated with using Colgate to brush one's teeth. The advert also seems to motivate those who are not used to using such products to start using them and will definitely experience good changes. It, therefore, act as a motivator for those people who had lost hopes of ever regaining their good and strong, healthy teeth.
The motivations being targeted in this advert is the incentive motivation. It seeks to reward the user of the product advertised in that, the product being used will improve the general confidence of the person while ensuring strong and healthy teeth. In addition, it targets the achievement motivation in which a person is being advertised of the product that will ensure the person achieve its health they so desire. Moreover, it targets the growth as it creates a burning desire for the person to know what exactly will happen if used.
Different theories of motivation include the incentive motivation theory in which it depicts that people are motivated to do things for the benefits and rewards they will attain by doing some tasks. In addition, the drive theory of motivation which explains that people are motivated to carry out certain tasks so as to enable them overcomes the tensions that have built inside them. For instance, one can be motivated to drink some glass of water so as to reduce the internal state of thirst (Ivey 2010).
Furthermore, the arousal theory of motivation suggests that the people take certain actions in order to increase or decrease the levels of arousal. In terms of arousal, when arousal gets too low, a person might watch a very interesting movie, on the other hand, when it gets too high, a person will have to find ways of relaxing so as to reduce.
