Women outnumber men in our town, but the dominant group remains white males. My town can hardly be called racially diverse, but many minority groups are at least represented.Racial diversity in Coshocton has had little influence on the history of the town. Very few members of any minority group make their homes here. There is a lack of minority representation in the community, but what are the reasons for this? Perhaps the overwhelming number of White Americans in this town has caused extreme subordination among the minority groups. Perhaps because their numbers are so few, they feel there is little reason to organize and make their voices heard. Whatever the reason is, minorities in Coshocton will remain subordinate for the foreseeable future.Because Coshocton is primarily composed of White Americans, most people look alike. The only variances in 96% of the population are height, weight, age, and hair color. I look a lot like my next-door neighbor, and we each look a lot like the Mayor. Aside from suntanned individuals, there is little variance in skin tone among the White Americans of Coshocton. Generally speaking, White Americans in Coshocton share proportionate facial features, and their eyes can be of any color from brown, blue, hazel, or green.There is a small population of African Americans in Coshocton. They all share naturally dark, sometimes curly hair and a dark skin tone, though their skin tones range from light to very dark. Their facial features are similar to one another, generally speaking.
