Everyone Should be Required to Learn CPR
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) is an essential skill that should be learned by every person. First of all, you will be able to recognize the symptoms of a heart attack. Secondly, you will learn how to help someone choking or drowning. Lastly, it can save someone you love.
First off, learning CPR can help you recognize the warning signs of a heart attack and empower you to save a human life. Ninety percent of cardiac arrest victims will die before reaching a hospital.(Aggeles) Most of the victims were home with family who didn’t know how to perform CPR. How would you feel if you sat there watching a family member suffer because you had no idea what to do but call 911? While it is a good idea to call an ambulance, the time before they arrive is very crucial to helping that person survive. This is where learning CPR plays a huge role. If one knows how to perform CPR, actions can be taken while the ambulance is on its way. Within four to six minutes after a heart attack triggers cardiac arrest, brain death begins. Four to six minutes could change your whole life if that is your Mom or Dad dying in front of you. With CPR training, you will know how to help circulate blood to the heart and brain while the body is unable to function on its own.(Aggeles) Simply put, by knowing CPR, you increase the chances of saving someone in cardiac arrest from severe brain damage while waiting on the ambulance to arrive. It is obvious that learning CPR is for the better.
Some jobs require employees to take CPR classes prior to working. An example of a job that would require a CPR certificate includes lifeguards, 911 operators and any type of medical field job. Any public pool you go to will always have lifeguards on duty that are current in CPR.
