6. One of the ways a caregiver could improve communication with a child is by conversing in the car and playing games with him/her. Another way of improving communication could be to provide many books and creative materials in order for the child to develop another way of expressing themselves. Making a ritual of talking about each others day is a good way to develop confidence and trust within the relationship, by showing that you really care and are interested in the child’s day, the child is able to feel secure and confident in talking about everything and so develops trust.

7. It is important to show understanding in communication with children because when you pay attention and become conscious of what the child is portraying you develop a warm and trusting relationship. When a child feels confident in the trust he/she gives to a caregiver they are able to express themselves more and by feeling secure the child is able to talk more about good feelings and bad ones as well, temper tantrums lessen when a child is able to express their anger in an appropriate manner. By showing understanding, this helps a child respect others and their feelings, it allows them to cope with emotions better, and above all understand themselves.

8. The results in praising appropriate behavior is the continuing of good decision making on the child’s part and the bonding between a child and caregiver. When a child feels proud of his actions he will continue and strive for the feeling of accomplishment again. His/her confidence will heighten and self-esteem will grow also.
