Marijuana was a major cash crop in the late 1800’s. Marijuana has different species or strains of plants. Hemp is one type of strain that offers many different uses. Hemp is the strongest natural fiber known to man. In other uses it could be engineered for bio diesel as an alterative use for fossil fuel. One of the first laws for marijuana required people to grow so much a year. Hemp also can be used for paper. Some of the Declaration of independence is written on hemp paper. Marijuana can be a major benefit to the medical industry and needs to be used! Marijuana has over hundreds of uses, and this is why it needs to be legal.
The reputation that marijuana has to the public is unfounded. Marijuana carries a bad repetition due to the propaganda the government puts on it. A lot of people say marijuana is bad for you? No its not it’s a misconception in society. The government did a test on monkeys; the out come of this test killed the monkeys. But they put gas masks on the monkeys and burned over sixty joints into the masks in result killed the monkeys due to oxygen starvation. Marijuana is not physically harmful to the body. Marijuana carries a whopping death toll of zero. Marijuana has not killed a single person ever! Marijuana increases brain activity, so it actually can make one smarter. One of the active ingredients in marijuana is THC. THC is the physiological ingredient in marijuana that gives the user a “high.” People that drink sometimes tend to get violent when under the influence of alcohol. No one has ever smoked weed and went home and beat their wife.
Marijuana should not be illegal, because it could help the nation. The black market of marijuana is over a seven billion dollar industry every year. If the government could decriminalize this plant it could boost the economy, and create new jobs. The prisons are crowded enough as it is. If it were decriminalize the prisons would be less crowded.
