I was going to have an introduction in which I defined BKEPC as well as explain what this paper was going to explore, but you already know all of that so I’m not going to waste time, paper, or ink. I also started this essay with this introductory paragraph and then got stuck, so I went on to hand-write out my ideas for the conclusion, and from there exploded, so here is my ‘conclusion’ to paper.
In all honesty, everyone views religion differently in the US depending on what religion means to them. That’s one reason I am having difficulty writing this paper. Therefore I am going to explore these ideas as I see them; someone who is currently struggling with what religion actually is and what it means to them and has been looking for years yet doesn’t really understand a lot of the concepts of the organized religion.
I personally feel as though the role of religion is clearly different for everyone in the US-that is one thing that truly makes it so great for everyone, yet difficult to grasp all at the same time. I, quite frankly, am pessimistic when I view religion mainly because I do not feel I do, or ever truly will have a deep enough understanding of it. When I think of the US’s general commitment to the religious doctrine, I think that a pseudo-commitment is present. I feel as though many-and I do not in any means mean ALL-simply cling to whatever their doctrine is because they are scared to stray from what they know and are comfortable with. I feel as though many people may fear thinking for themselves so they look to historically relevant scriptures and rules to ‘live’ their lives by. I feel like this ties directly into the knowledge that many people have about these doctrines they are following. Many people simply go through the motions. I feel as though the US has a sort of blind faith. People follow what they, their families, friends, whoever, have been doing for years-but how many truly understand what it is they are doing, or reading, or believing...
