In these past few weeks of Religious classes has been difficult to become accustomed to the lingo. While learning religion, I started to compare them to gangs. They all have one leader and depending on the religion, there are people you look to, to make the boss happy.
Religion has caught my attention and I plan to continue the search to fulfill my interest. Now it’s a matter of when I can!
“Judaism, Islam and Christianity are collectively known as "Abrahamic religions" because they trace their history to the covenant God made with Abraham in the Hebrew Bible.”(Religion Facts, n.d.) One similarity they all have is they all believe in one God. Their religions were all believed to be born from a patriarch.
“Judaism, Christianity, and Islam---are found among people who believe there must be meaning to human life. Their fear is that human life and individual men's lives are meaningless. Their hope is that they will find meaning. Judaism, Christianity and Islam stress belief in One God with it is possible to communicate, who cares about those who believe in him, whose worship can give meaning to the believer's life, and who can reward the believer with continued life after he dies on earth.” (Haskins, n.d., ¶ 6)
These two citations are a couple of the similarities linked to all three religions. Based from these 2 quotes, the belief of one God and the praise to one God is consistant. There are different days of the week they practice, but they all pray to the same God.
Islam’s believe their teachings are that of God, they feel the other religions have corrupted the work of God and God’s text. This is due to other religions dictating the text to their liking vs. the work of God prophet’s texts. Christianity and Judaism followers read the bible while Islam’s read the Qur’an.
