Research Strategies: Time Management
Entering college can be an exciting endeavor for any student. There is new knowledge to gain and the promise of a brighter future. However, the path to enlightenment can be rocky. In order to ensure that I stay on the right path it will be necessary to strengthen my time management skills. This can be achieved by researching information that has been designed to help individuals manage their time more effectively.
Although, I have improved a great deal in regards to managing my time more efficiently, I do feel there is more room for improvement. Like most students, I have to juggle a family life, a personal life, as well as a career. Thus, it is very easy to lose one’s focus which may lead to turning assignments in late or missing assignments all together. These factors can be extremely overwhelming and cause much unneeded stress that can hinder my progress in school. I feel fortunate that there are steps I can take to ensure that I stay on schedule.
The first step I need to take before I conduct any research to help with time management is to first recognize the importance of setting and achieving goals. I have already established a long term goal by deciding to receive an education and obtain a degree. However, in order to succeed in achieving my goal, it will be to my benefit to break my long term goals into a series of short term goals. For example, as I have already mentioned, my long term goal is to earn a degree and build a career. Therefore, my short term goals may be to attend college and earn good grades. Taking one step at a time will help me stay focused.
