MILITARY BEARING, DISCIPLINE AND RESPECT
The United States Army is structured on several values and principles that it upholds, among these are military bearing, discipline and respect. These principles represents what the organization strongly believes in and governs the most basic customs and courtesies that all its members should abide by, otherwise legal repercussion and punishment is enforced that could ultimately result in your separation from the military.
According to Field Manual 6-22, “Military Bearing is defined as having or projecting a commanding presence and a professional image of authority”. One is to observe a sense of calmness even in the most stressful situations, leaders of the United States Army should maintain their military bearing even in situations where it seems chaotic, out of control or a civilian would respond in panic. Bear true faith and allegiance to the U.S. constitution, the Army, and other soldiers.
Be loyal to the nation and its heritage. To me that means treat this commitment like you would of that to a loved one out in exactly what you want to get out no more and no less. Duty
Fulfill your obligations.
Accept responsibility for your own actions and those entrusted to your care.
Find opportunities to improve oneself for the good of the group. Duty means to me that no matter what the mission comes first since you can no longer think as yourself as just one person you wouldn't be letting yourself down you would be letting your comrades down and the mission would not be complete.
