Gap Analysis: Riordan Manufacturing
Riordan Manufacturing is a successful plastics manufacturing organization operating for at least a decade. Riordan has been very successful, but for the past couple of years the company has seen a decline in sales and profitability. In addition, employee morale and retention have also become a huge issue for Riordan. Riordan has recently implemented several strategic changes in response to declining sales and uneven profits. The implementation of these changes has negatively affected the employee morale and employee retention numbers are down. Additional initiatives include enhancing the HR systems to provide a better understanding of pay systems, creating a succession planning and promoting hiring from within, and implementing a transparent and consistent performance evaluation process. “The pay system can be a powerful mechanism for encouraging and supporting a variety of alternative employee behaviors, such individual goal achievement, or teamwork, cooperation, and quality improvement (Dreher & Dougherty, 2001).” The demand for a better reward system is one of the top priorities for Riordan Manufacturing. Riordan Manufacturing’s should develop and have an open discussion for alternative solutions to help the company find issue resolution and provide focus on available opportunities.
