RIORDAN MANUFACTURING VIRTUAL ORGANIZATION RELOCATION MEMO
Project Scope Statement:
Riordan Manufacturing’s relocation from Hangzhou to Shanghai. Effectively planning the relocation of Riordan’s plant from Hanzhou to Shanghai is the key to a successful relocation. The relocation will entail moving staff, housing, office, and machinery to a new location. During the planning and execution of this relocation is important to focus on a minimum of losses due to mishandling of company property, downtime of machinery, and non productivity of staff during the relocation. Project Charter:
The project charter for the relocation will include details of the process of relocating and the sequence of relocation events. The justification for Riordan to relocate is to heightened cost efficiences of plant operations and to reduce geographical shipping and transportation cost. All these reasons are to increase overall production efficiencies and lower overhead costs. Work Breakdown Structure (WBS)
Riordan Manufacturing have three separate entities with their own Finance and Accounting Systems. All input from these locations are kept at the corporate office in San Jose. Each system has all the same components other than EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) and EDSS (Executive Decision Support System) which is only available at the San Jose location. The components each system has is:
General Ledger
Accounts Payable
Accounts Receivable
Order Entry
Procurement
Sales and Purchasing History
Payroll
Financial Reporting
Bar Code Reading
As each location was acquired the F&A system’s compatibility was not addressed. This has made it difficult to maintain all the F&A’s data.
