General Motors falls, and so do residents of Flint.
Residents poor planing sends town to failure.

In todays society, there are many people that find jobs because of who they know as well as family history. Many people take over there fathers/mothers business while others start from scratch with the knowledge they already posses. As far as the city of Flint, Michigan goes, a overwhelming portion of residents there had jobs involving the General Motors Company. Whether people worked on the assembly line or in the offices, almost all the residents of this community depended on this company a their main source of income. As soon as sons and daughters were of age, they occupied the empty slots in the assembly line and other jobs associated with the manufacturing of General Motors vehicles. In Micheal Moores documentary, Roger and Me, he shows how this town was almost completely dependent on the General Motors company. Generation after generation would always have jobs associated with this company and he shows how this could eventually lead to a problem of people being to dependent on GM and not having some sort of a backup plan as far as income goes. This is clearly an example of carelessness and should not be overlooked because of the state of panic and chaos everyone goes into as soon as the factory shuts down. To be successful in todays world, you always must think of the worst case scenario. Whether it be driving on the parkway or standing under a ladder you must always assume that the car next to you is goin to lose control or the ladder is going to lose its footing and come crashing down. If you don't look at life this way then your life is in the hands of careless individuals who don't give a damn about you. This relates to the documentary because the people of Flint, Michigan had depended so greatly on the General Motors Company that when it did close shop and move elsewhere the town had crumbled to pieces.
